Neuroscientists from the University of Virginia on the podcast "That Neuroscience Guy," talk about the impacts of marijuana on the brain and the news isn't that surprising. While, there is still much epidemiological research that needs to be conducted to understand the long-term benefits or risks of consuming marijuana recent studies have been published that the use of marijuana for recreational use or self-medication for CNS disorders like psychiatric disorder or neurological disorders can impact overall sensory-motor and memory impairment features. Long-term use has been shown to decrease memory elasticity and cause chronic and persistent anxiety episodes, this is because THC blocks the endocannabinoid system from regulating specific neurotransmitters attached to our affect, thought, memory and experience. When this system is blocked, it can either up-regulate or deregulate the proper way your brains neurochemistry is meant to function. Therefore, if you find that you're self-medicating your anxiety, depression or PTSD through the use of marijuana because you're in chronic pain, please consult with your MD or your mental health counselor to talk about alternative solutions for using the drug whether it be recreationally or for self-medication.

Thoughts on sexuality, history and the use of goddess based earth spirituality for anchoring one's self during the recovery of childhood sexual abuse, sexual assault and violence against women & the LGBTQ community. The dominance that has been continuously and violently perpetrated against females has disconnected us from being able to authentically connect to our sexual bodies. Love is a commercialized ideology that is sold and in many ways represents our unconscious need for sexual expression. However, love (as seen in Hollywood films and hopes of marriage) is a construct and not a formal embodiment of sexual agency and action. Connecting to the core identity of your heart will help relinquish the need to seek sexual validation outside of yourself. A Meditation for Sexual Empowerment Meditating can be an empowering act that allows the individual to conceptualize elements of themselves through present-awareness and observation. We can reconnect to our soul, sexual and creative energy by disconnecting from the scripts that demonstrate illustrations of the feminine. This does not mean we have to stop being apart of society. In fact, the purpose is to construct an identity that is whole and meaningful within the confounds of society. That is the embodiment of empowerment. Begin the meditation in your home or safe place. Ground and center yourself. Then take the time to close your eyes. There is no judgment in how you complete this. Think of a time in your life where you felt safe and like yourself. Where you didn’t have to impress anyone or be someone you were not. Say your name to yourself – notice what you feel in your body when you speak your own name, and touch the part of your body where you feel the most somatic sensation. What image comes to mind when you are expressing these sensations? Keep that image in your present awareness. Is there a word or a phrase that comes to mind when you sit with yourself? Declare a word that aligns with who you are the most. For me, the word was the sun. And I felt vibrancy, love and exuding peace. This feeling is your core-self. I

Poem from a trauma survivor working through their parts healing for childhood sexual abuse: The Parts of Me There was something in me dying to unlock the truth That was the part of me that loved women That used her pain to fight for justice To advocate, march and help make the world a better place Without guidance, that part of me turned inward unable to identify why Searching the pain grew stronger and stronger the strength turned to weakness: There was a part of me that wanted to hide She saw a glimpse of what was to come and thought it must be in her mind Wanting to be normal, there was a part of me that felt no pain when she danced Dancing and painting were the only parts of me that felt free But you can't dance and you can't paint all day Numbed by my journey back to innocence That was a part of me that craved love No more women's issues No more pain - Just painting, laughing, singing and loving all of my days There was a part of me that could not be silenced She was the one who broke the levy There was a part of me who was so scared to die She would do anything not to go back to that place - so she would sit and cry and cry and cry There was a part of me that wanted to scream She wanted to break walls, smash windows and throw everything She felt threatened in every second, unaware of everything She held so much pain inside There was a part of me that felt guilt Why are you doing this? What is happening?
